The exhibition Mommy's girl explores the last year of Marie-Claude Marquis and invites you to delve into the complex emotions experienced during this significant period where grieving the loss of her mother, finding love and reaching the end of her 30's were lived side by side. As time progresses, the artist realizes that life is a story, a mix of bright moments and deep shadows and that sadness and happiness have no choice but to coexist.
Presenting her typographic work on plates, embroidery, tapestries and a new series of funeral urns, this exhibition offers a space for introspection and reflection, exploring the path from loss to maturity at a key moment in life. As an homage to the memory of her mother who celebrated life until the end, the artist created works that are both touching, raw and funny because she is convinced that we must laugh even in very difficult times.
